Made a few changes to the design. To all those who purchased the old design - you now have one of kinds, cuz I removed it from the store. Images are housed on Cafe Press' servers and are added to the shirt of your choice - available for purchase:
Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I got a new domain the other day: OMITP.COM.
Ran across my old ponytail the other day. It became a prop in a silly piece of sketch comedy I've posted on Youtube. Be sure to leave me a comment:
Art In A Nutshell:
Would you like to take a class on the subject of Abstract Extractionism? I now teach classes at the Art Pad here in Austin. The class covers everything from the Makapansgat Pebble to a Microsoft Engineer's usage of inkblots in a password encryption program. Learn the skills of Scribblism - the art and practice of the scribble. Along with Scribble Reading one will also leave with a skill for seeing amazing imagery in the meat of the peanut. As the inventor of peanut carving and the Old Man in the Peanut, your peanut sculptures will benefit from instruction from the original, as you carve your own legumes for your peanut gallery! Keeping Austin Nutty since 1993, Ismael Cavazos (the new american carver). Here's the description from Art Pad Studio.Com:

ART IN A NUTSHELL Instructor, Ismael Cavazos
Can
you scribble? Have you ever seen clouds
come alive with imagery? Then you possess
the hand and eye of an artist! Austin artist,
ISMAEL
CAVAZOS, will lead this class in an
exploration of Abstract Extractionism, the
discovery of images in scribbles and the
patterns of natural objects like clouds
and wood grain. Each day will feature a
unique art form; inkblots, scribbles, and
even peanuts; taking a look at the history
of Abstract Extractionism, and learning
techniques to transform these visions into
art.
My path crossed Ron Lyon's & Jenny Paschall's last week while having coffee at Bouldin. A few days later the Old Man in the Peanut was being filmed for a mini-featurette on a new TV series the team is working on entitled Real Strange. I will keep the site updated with an air date as soon as I find out. In the mean time, check out the TV promo:
Art In A Nutshell, my project involving carved peanuts, has been featured in Austin Monthly Magazine! The Weird Watch in the Table of Contents asks,
"Would you shell out for carved nuts?" Also, IF+D has just picked up my Eye Candy Bars line!
Downtown, Austin - I left the Green Muse Cafe yesterday after offering my first set of Scribble Sessions (I'll post examples soon), around 6:30 - 7pm. I parked on 7th facing East just short of Congress. I distinctly remember turning right, to go South on Congress, and coming to the light at 5th Street where I looked out my open window to the massive amount of birds that were hopping from tree to tree. I looked over to my left at the car beside me, the inhabitants were busy looking up at the trees and the noisy birds . I might not of thought twice about it, except that the news at 5 this morning was saying they were closing Congress down between 6th and 8th Streets because of dead birds - grackles, sparrows and pigeons. This later expanded from Cesar Chavez to 11th Street - around 8 am. Now they've cordoned off the two streets to the left and right of Congress, with several side streets and all buildings in the area blocked off and expected to remain off-limits until about noon, said police spokeswoman Toni Chovanetz. All this on the eve of the state's 80th legislative session - welcome back "representatives".
The Scribble Sessions, offer art patrons the chance to meet the artist and ask those questions you've always wanted answered, or simply to watch the artist work. The Sesssions are also the most immediate way to get customized artwork, for cheap! Enchanted with the idea that a fan of a band can look up the band's website and find out where they are playing, the Scribble Sessions Touring Schedule will be a permanent fixture here at IsmaelCavazos.com as well as at Scribblism.com for fun and easy access to the art and artist.
Today I will be at the Green Muse Cafe from 1 to 5, come get your art on!
